From the Board of Commissioners
Joseph P.
Possenti, Jr., President of the Board of Commissioners has
announced the implementation of a recycling program to collect
unused cell phones. This program is sponsored by Delaware County Solid Waste
Authority.
“The average life span of a single cell phone is
approximately 18 months and many of us who periodically upgrade
services or equipment find that we have a collection of outdated
or non-usable cell phones,” states Possenti.
“The Board of Commissioners and I are pleased to offer
this program knowing that donated cell phones will be refurbished
and given to those who are in need.”
Recycling old cell phones gives their owners the
opportunity to donate them to others who would not otherwise have
the monetary means to afford one.
Collected cell phone are refurbished, programmed to reach
911, and issued free of charge to senior citizens and victims of
domestic violence. Members
of our community, seeking medical and/or protection assistance can
be given peace of mind by carrying a refurbished cell phone that
has been programmed to reach 911 in the event an emergency
situation should arise.
Cell phones, along with their appropriate chargers, can
be dropped off to the Aston Community Center or Aston Township
Municipal Building.
