Congratulations to our Vanguards, Sun Valley High School’s baseball team, for a stellar season.  The Vanguards advanced to the PIAA District AAA state championship   held in Altoona on June  

(Family and friends send well wishes to Vanguard team members prior to boarding the bus for Altoona.)

17 and became the first high school baseball team to ever reach the state finals in the history of Delaware County.  Coached by Kraig Kaufhold, the Vanguards achieved second place in the state championship finals.  We are proud of each and every member of the Vanguards baseball team.  Congratulations on a job well done!

We extend our sincerest congratulations to Donna & Steve Prendergast as they celebrate their 1st year wedding anniversary on July 6, 2006. 

 Community News 

Aston Public Library is offering numerous summer reading programs during the month of July.  

July 5      Mr. Malcolm
July 12    Vickie Town Musical Group
July 19    Segal Puppets
July 26    Makin’ Music

These programs will be held at 1pm in the gym at the Community Center and no registration is required. 

  Children, kindergarten through third grade, are welcome to join “Pals for Life,” a pet therapy program that encourages children to spend time reading to a trained therapy animal who loves listening to stories!  This program is scheduled for July 20 at 7pm.  Space is limited and registration is required.

   On July 27, Aston Public Library members will be visiting the Adventure Aquarium in Camden.  Registration is required by July 14 due to space limitations and children must be accompanied by an adult.

At a recent dinner meeting held at Hennessy’s Restaurant the Aston Township Lions installed new officers for the upcoming 2006-2007 year.  Ted Fusco, past International Director, inducted the new officers during a candlelight ceremony.  Lion Albert Donato, 59th president, received the

We are looking for volunteers to assist us in the planning of our 4th Annual Aston Township Community Day and Parade scheduled for Saturday, October 7.  The parade will begin at 10am from Neumann College and proceed along Concord Road to the Aston Community Center.  The business expo and community day festivities will be showcased on the grounds of the Aston Community Center.  All Aston businesses, clubs and organizations are invited to attend.  For information on how to volunteer in the planning of this event or to secure a table at the business expo, please contact Diane Johnson, 610-494-4155.  If you wish to volunteer or participate in the parade, you may contact: Ann Iacono, 610-494-0797; Norma Locke, 610-497-5234; or Tina Eunson, 610-361-8448.
