From
the Board of Commissioners
Mr.
Fran Davis, former president of Aston Senior Citizens, was
recognized at the Board of Commissioners meeting held on June 21,
2006 for his many years of service to the seniors of our township.
Mr. Davis will continue his involvement with Aston Senior
Citizens and serve in the capacity as a member of the executive
committee.
Additionally, the Board of Commissioners publicly
acknowledged Fran Davis and his wife, Joan, as they celebrated
their 54th wedding anniversary on June 21, 2006. Congratulations!
On
May 7, 2006 a young resident was rescued from a dangerous
situation that occurred at a local quarry site and required
specialized assistance through rope-rescue techniques.
Arriving on the scene was Michael Porter, David Durbano,
Michael Evans, and Ken Dawson, members of Green Ridge Volunteer
Fire Company.
Board of Commissioners vice president, Frank Murphy, recognized
the heroic efforts of these dedicated volunteer firefighters and
stated, “I would just like to say on behalf of the entire
township how grateful we are not only to these men but all the men
and women of the volunteer fire companies for all the work they
do. This was a
|
particularly dangerous activity that day and you
put your own lives at risk to save someone else. I think it’s probably the highest life calling you can
have, and the whole township salutes you.”
