Aston Township Lions Club
Attention World War II Veterans! This year marks the 60th anniversary of the end of
World War II. State
Representative Stephen Barrar is working with local veterans’
organizations to identify and honor World
War II Veterans living in the 160th legislative
district in order to present our veterans with a certificate and
commemorative medal from the House of Representatives.

Aston Township Historical Society
will hold their next meeting on Thursday, February 9, at the Aston
Township Municipal Building at 7:30pm.
Mike Manerchia, owner of the Plank House in Marcus Hook,
will discuss the recent historical artifacts that continue to be
unearthed from his property, dating back to the 1600’s.
The Plank House, thought to be the home once visited by
Blackbeard, is currently considered one of the ten most important
historical finds in the State of Pennsylvania.
Aston Township Historical Society
hosts a large collection of memorabilia at the Aston Community
Center. Hours of
operation are Mondays from 11am to 2pm and 6:30pm to 8:30pm; and
Wednesdays from 11am to 2pm.

Cheerleaders performed in the Star Spangled Open
Championship held on January
8, 2006 at the Mariners Convention Center in Baltimore, Maryland.
The 6-8 year olds and the 9-12 year olds both won 1st
place in their respective competition routines.

Late signups are scheduled at the Aston Community
Center on February 1, 8, and 15, between 7-9pm, for anyone
interested in joining the Aston
Valley Baseball League (AVBL).

The Green
Ridge Volunteer Fire Company will be hosting their annual
carnival beginning April 11 through April 15.
Family nights are scheduled for Tuesday, April 11 and
Wednesday, April 12 and will offer the opportunity to purchase $15
wristbands that include unlimited rides for each evening.

The Board of Directors of Aston
Senior Citizens will hold their monthly meeting at 9:30am on
Tuesday, February 14, 2006, at the Aston Community Center. Anyone interested in

Additionally, Aston
Senior Citizens will hold their general meeting and luncheon
at 10:45am on Thursday, February 23, 2006 at the Community Center. Guest speaker, Joe
Cisco will share information on how to safely manage money
during retirement years.
Aston Public
Library holds their board meetings at 7pm on the third Tuesday
of each month at the library.
From September through May, the adult book discussion
group meets at the library at 7pm on the third Wednesday of the
month to read a group selected book and participate in group

The Delaware County
Library System invites you to the 2006 Heck-of-a-Good Book
Sale, scheduled to be held on March 10, 11, & 12 at the
Granite Run Mall. A
portion of the proceeds will be distributed to a Mississippi

by the hurricanes, and a portion will benefit Delaware County’s
library youth services. We
are collecting items through February at Aston
Public Library, Granite Run Mall, and other locations.
