May 1, 2006 marks the beginning of the second trash pick-up for the upcoming spring and summer months.  Please note the following schedule and disregard the schedule that is listed in the township calendar.

General Federation of Woman’s Club has another busy month ahead of them.  A craft workshop will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at 7pm, at the Aston Community Center.  For additional information, please call 610-874-9796.

   A general meeting for GFWC is scheduled at Aston Community Center on Monday, April 24, 2006, at 7pm.  This meeting includes a strength training program and the election of officers for 2006-2008.

   The Delaware County spring meeting for General Federation of Woman’s Club will be held at the Oaks Ballroom on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at 10am.  This meeting will include the installation of 2006-2008 officers.

D’Anjolell – Stigale Memorial Home and
Cremation Services opened the week of March 20, 2006.  Mr. James Stigale, a 15-year Aston
resident and Supervisor of this newly erected site.

Commissioner Gary Robinson is hosting an Easter egg hunt for the residents of the 4th ward.  This event is scheduled for Sunday, April 9, 2006 at 2pm in Woodbrook Park.  In the event of inclement weather a rain date has been scheduled for Saturday, April 15, 2006 at 10am in Woodbrook Park.  If you have any questions, please contact Commissioner Robinson after 6pm at 610-494-4185. 

An Easter egg hunt will also be held for 2nd and 3rd ward residents, at Delaware County Vocational Technical School on Sunday, April 9, 2006 at 1pm, hosted by Commissioner Jeffrey Pilla and President of the Board of Commissioners Joseph P. The annual literature contest for Penn-Delco students, sponsored by General Federation of Woman’s Club, will hold an awards ceremony at 7pm on Monday, April 3, 2006, at Pennell Elementary School.  Short stories were submitted by students, grades one through five, from Aston, Coebourn, Parkside, and Pennell Elementary Schools.  With families and teachers in attendance, twenty-seven students will be honored for their work.

Refreshments will be served at this awards ceremony.  More information can be obtained by contacting Betty Boyd, Literature Chairperson, at 610-494-2786. 

Many, many thanks to the Sun Valley Marie Corps R.O.T.C., the Upper Darby Sousa Band, Bill Mayo, and the Aston Township Mass Choir for their participation in “A Salute to Our Veterans” that was held on March 21, 2006 at Neumann College’s Meagher Theater.  An emotionally touching event, hosted by Jack Holefelder, Chairman of the Aston Township Veterans’ Memorial Foundation, veterans were honored for their faithful service to our Country that included recognition of all branches

Aston Lioness will hold their monthly board meeting at the Aston Community Center on April 6, 2006 at 7pm. 

   The 13th Annual Dinner and Fashion Show, sponsored by Aston Lioness, will be held at the Ballroom at Boothwyn (Boothwyn Fire Hall) on April 27, 2006 at 6:30pm.  Fashions will be presented by Dress Barn.  Tickets price is $30 per person and can be obtained from any Aston Lioness member.  Additional information is available by contacting Co-Chairwomen Ann Canning at 610-494-1595 or Bonnie Craig at 610-494-1480.
