Dr.
William E. Watson, History Professor from Immaculata University,
will be the guest speaker at the Aston Township Historical
Society’s meeting on September 8, 7:30pm, at the Aston
Community Center. Dr. Watson will present a PowerPoint presentation and lecture
on archaeological locations and historical facts that surrounded the
construction of the Philadelphia and Columbia Railroad in 1832 by Irish immigrants, from Chester County, who faced tremendous
challenges while constructing “mile 59.”

paints, motor oil, antifreeze, and certain types of batteries, just
to name a few, are considered Household Hazardous Waste (HHW). If
not disposed of properly, HHW can pollute our environment and harm
our children and pets. A program administered by the Delaware County
Solid Waste Authority makes provisions for residents to dispose of
items, such as these, in a safe manner. On Friday, September 30, collection of these
materials will be held at Rose Tree Park, Media, from 9am to 3pm,
regardless of weather conditions. Other items that will be accepted on this day are
computer-related objects, fax machines, power cords, cables,
