planning the delivery of holiday baskets to those in need.  Also, in cooperation with GFWC Pennsylvania, participation in the “Hugs and Kisses” project is underway.  Hats, gloves, scarves, and undergarments will be collected and distributed through local agencies for children in need of such items.

Aston Lioness Club works closely with Aston Lions Club in their support of a variety of community-based services.  Together they unite members in friendship, fellowship and understanding.

   Aston Lioness will hold their monthly board meeting at 7pm on Thursday, November 2 at Aston Community Center.  All members are invited and encouraged to attend board meetings.  A dinner meeting will not be scheduled for the month of November. 

   Membership dues of $15 per member were collected on July 1, 2006.  If you have not yet paid your yearly dues please see Pat Criscolo at the next scheduled meeting. 

Senior Community Services is offering classes to senior residents of Aston Township during the month of November.  Please take a look at the following fall semester classes and plan to attend those that are of interest to you.  All classes will be held at Aston Community Center.  For additional information, please contact Ms. Farah Esfahani at 610-237-8100 x30.

Senior Community Services presents"My Fair Lady" at Dutch Apple Theatre on Saturday, November 4, 2006, from 9:30am to 5:00pm.  Ticket price is $75 per person and includes show, buffet lunch, taxes, gratuity and transportation.  Bus transportation pickup and drop off is located at Concord Township Building.  For more information on this event please contact Lori Detweiler at 610-237-8100 x30.

Aston Township Historical Society invites the public to attend their next meeting at 7:30pm on Thursday, November 9 at Aston Township Municipal Building.  “Show, Tell and Share” is the program for the evening as residents will have the opportunity to share stories through photographs and mementoes relating to our township’s treasured past.  Resident historians Paul Dougherty and Gene Ormsby will be available to answer questions.

   Officers recently installed for the 2006-2008 term are:

   Pat Smith, president; Sheila Withelder, vice-president; Ruth Ross, secretary; Carol Cannon, treasurer; and Bob Farrell, George Ormsby, and Karen Micka Etherton, directors.

   The Society’s Historical Museum, located at Aston Community Center, is open on Monday and Wednesday from 11am to 2pm and on Monday evenings from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.

Aston Lions are busier than ever during the months of November and December!  Their dinner meeting will be held on November 2 at 6:30pm at American Legion Post 926 with guest speaker Ed Doran, tax director of Elko and Associates; Board of Directors meeting on November 9 at 7pm at Aston Community Center; Delaware County Lions Annual Rally on November 14 at Springfield Country Club from 6pm to 9pm; and dinner meeting on November 16 at 6:30pm at American Legion Post 926 with guest speaker Senator Dominic F. Pileggi.

  Numerous activities are scheduled for December 2006.  Please make sure to pick up a copy of December’s newsletter for more details.

   Don’t forget the Aston Lions’ Annual Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, November 5, from 7:30am until 12:30pm at Aston Community Center.  Prices are: Adults $5;

Honor someone special by placing a personalized brick at our township's Veterans' Memorial Garden.  Bricks can celebrate a birth, anniversary, graduation, and can memorialize the life of a loved one.  This is an excellent opportunity to give a one-of-a-kind gift that will be enjoyed by future generations.  4" x 8" bricks cost $100 each or three for $250 total.  8" x 8" bricks cost $150 each.  Bricks will be inscribed with your choice of wording up to three lines (16 characters per line including spaces.)

   Morte Smitham, Community Banking Officer, at Iron Workers Bank is offering a 5' x 3' American flag with pole to those who submit a brick order at Iron Workers Bank, Concord Road.  For more information on the purchase of bricks at Veterans' Memorial Garden please contact

   An informal memorial dedication will take place at Veterans’ Memorial Garden on Veteran’s Day, Saturday, November 11, 2006 at 9am.  The first 30 people who arrive at this ceremony will receive an American flag designed as an attachment for a window of a car.  The formal dedication of the memorial and garden is scheduled for April 2007.

   Note your calendars now for the upcoming Silent Auction scheduled for Saturday, February 24, 2007 at Kings Mills from 6pm to 10pm.  The Silent Auction proceeds benefit the Veterans’ Memorial Garden Foundation.  Anyone interested in donating quality items to be auctioned or any business or residents who wishes to appear in the ad-booklet as a sponsor may contact Kit Spayd, Chairperson – Fundraising Committee, at 484-995-3274. 

Church of St. Joseph in Aston will host their 7th Annual Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, November 18 from 9am to 7pm and Sunday, November 19 from 7am to 1pm in Degnan Hall. 

   Grandma's Attic, Bake Sale, Jewelry, Crafts, Tombolla, Religious Articles, Toys, Baby Boutique, Videos, Books, Pictures with Santa and much more will be available!
