A
fairyland Easter arrived early this year at the Township’s
Community Center. Plastic eggs were everywhere! As far as tiny
eyes could imagine! It was hilarious as kids from all over the
Township formed three age groups and were poised
at the starting line for the Aston Township First Annual Easter
Egg Hunt.
Moms
and Dads were busy coaching their toddlers on proper stretching
exercises and warm-up drills. The same parents were practicing
cheers for the older participants.
The
participants were eager to “get it on” with their version of
March Madness. Some removed clothing to allow greater mobility.
Some donned sunglasses to overcome the glare of the dew laden
grass.
The
field was prepared carefully into three sections representing the
three age brackets for this special spring event.
Among
the three sections there were 15,000 eggs hidden - well “placed
“ may be a better word. It’s hard to hide 15,000 multicolored
plastic eggs. It was
a kaleidoscopic cornucopia
prepared for the avid egg hunter to strut his or her talents
before an eggsuburant audience. Just as the crowd seemed to reach
an apex of emotion, the MC arrived on the scene. “Big Bunny”
arrived wearing his traditional multicolored vest and matching bow
tie. The grand master was in rare form as he waved the crowd into
hysteric glee, blessed all the eggs in sight and recited the rules
of the “game.” “Each of the eggs” he stated “has candy
except the ….Magic Eggs. The Magic Eggs contained no candy but a
numbered piece of paper entitling the participant to a prize upon
