about aston

This site is dedicated to Fran McLaughin who created the original site from which we were all motivated to present all of what you see. He dedicated much of the final years of his life creating Aston Township's first municipal website. In thanks, we have maintained some of what he created here in memory of his efforts. The banner, the color scheme, and some of the design work still remain in his honor.

Giant Pump Proposal Still Pending

The township’s zoning hearing board will meet at the municipal building at 7pm on Jan. 27 to discuss a possible zoning change to allow eight gas pumps in the parking lot of the Village Green Shopping Center. The hearing was originally scheduled for April, but has been postponed five times.

Giant filed the application, but the proposed pumps would be located on the far side of their main Concord Rd. access drive.

West Nile Precautions Still Necessary

Despite the onset of cooler weather, health officials are reminding residents to still be mindful of stagnant water on their property. Eliminating standing water helps reduce mosquito breeding grounds, and subsequently fights the spread of West Nile Virus.

Aston Township has not had any positive samples of West Nile-carrying mosquitoes, but the DEP has reported positive test results for West Nile carriers in nearby Concord Township and Aldan Borough. To prevent the spread of positive samples, Concord and Aldan are being sprayed.

Save Water, Save Money

Clean, fresh water is a valuable commodity. The average household using 280 gallons every day. Water conservation protects resources and helps to reduce homeowners’ water and septic disposal bills.

The following are ways to save water:
-Repair leaking faucets and toilets.
-Install low-flow toilets or place a brick in the fill-tank.
-Use garbage disposals sparingly.
-Turn off faucet when brushing teeth.
-Insulate hot water pipes.
-Only run full loads in the washing machine and dishwasher.
