Community Profiles

Lifetime resident of Aston, Paul Dougherty has officially resigned from the Aston Township’s Zoning Board and the Aston Township Historical Society. There is no doubt that he’ll be missed. Constantly working behind the scenes on community projects, Paul shied away from the limelight, but his leadership provided for certain success. He was the catalyst to the formation of Aston Historical Society.  Paul’s record of public service extends back to his days with Southern Bus Company where he worked for 40 years, and for a number of those years, he worked part time for the Chester and Aston Township Police Departments. As a member of the Aston Police Department, Paul received praise from the Commonwealth in 1968 for his creation of a Safe Driving Program, which rewarded young drivers for safe and courteous driving. Later that year, Paul received his first Outstanding Citizens Award by the Aston Township Commissioners, and in 1993 received his second Outstanding Citizens Award for the founding of the Aston Township Historical Society. To this day Paul Dougherty is the only person to have received that honor twice. Best wishes and happiness to Paul Dougherty and his wife Alice.

the 4th

…the 4th arrived late, but was worth the wait Thanks to the joint efforts of our local firefighters, police department, public works department, several volunteer organizations, and the Board of Commissioners, the 4th of July festivities held of the rain date of July the 8th was a total success.

…the Clock has arrived…..For those who don’t travel through ‘five points’ often – the Township Clock has arrived thanks to the efforts of the Aston Business Association, its volunteers and contributors.
