First Ward Residents Share Gift of Giving

In the true spirit of Christmas, residents of the First Ward are being asked by Commissioner Michael Fulginiti to share their good fortunes with neighbors in need. Families or individuals who are unable to afford their own holiday gifts should be identified prior to Christmas, with assurances that the names of all recipients and donors will be kept confidential.

“As a ward, I would like to coordinate the collection and distribution of gifts

to anonymous families this holiday season,” Fulginiti announced in November. “If you know of a family that is in need in the First Ward, please call or email me – their names will not be released. I would also ask anyone that would like to donate or distribute food, gifts or other donated items to contact me as well.

“At this time of year we feel so blessed to be with our families and celebrate the holidays, but there are some in our own neighborhoods who do not feel this joy. We would like to begin a tradition of helping our neighbors. We would like to help as many families as possible, but this depends on the support that we receive from the First Ward.”

Neumann Students Welcomed

A group of about a dozen Neumann College journalism students were recognized and applauded for their attendance at commissioners’ Nov.19 meeting, which was part of their studies.

“What did you do to deserve to come to this exciting meeting?” Commissioner President Joseph Possenti quipped. “We appreciate your being here. If you have any questions of us that could help you with your class, let us know,” he offered.

Help Keep Community Center Clean

The maintenance man at the Aston Community Center is making a simple and earnest plea to the township residents who use the facility: Please do not litter on the grounds. The front door area is a popular smoking area for visitors, which

has to be cleaned up by staff. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping the Community Center beautiful.

Oh deer! This herd along Cherry Tree Rd. is already wearing their winter coats.
