All
trash should be placed at the curb prior to 6:00 a. m.. No cans or bags
should weigh over forty (40) pounds. No recycling should be mixed in with
regular trash. Trash and recycling should not be placed at curbside prior
to 12 noon the day prior to your scheduled collection day. The sanitation employees begin work at 6:00 a. m.
All garbage must be properly wrapped or
bagged and all refuse places in twenty (20) gallon covered containers.
Plastic bags must be placed in a container due to rodents or animals
getting in trash bags while on your property or when placed at the curb.
All
shrubbery must be tied in bundles and cut in a maximum of three (3) foot
lengths for trash pick-up. Bureaus, tables, rugs, wood, etc. that can be
smashed can be placed at the curb on your normal trash pick-up day.

Bulk
Items such as mattresses, box springs, sofas, stuffed
chairs, and metal items such as Washers, dryers,
air conditioners, water heaters, refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers should be placed at the curb on your
regularly scheduled bulk trash pick-up day during "Bulk
Trash and Appliance Collection Week".
All items should be placed at
the curbside by 6:00 a. m. the morning of your pick-up day. Bulk trash and
freon “white metal” items will be picked up by separate trucks. There
is a twenty ($20.00) dollar per item fee for all white metal items. The
fee must be paid prior to the collection date. Senior citizens receive
free “white metal” pick- up. All white metal and freon items must be
called in prior to the day of collection. Please call the Public Works
Department between 7:00 a. m. and 3:00 p. m. weekdays.
Aston township is a single stream recycling
community. All single homes were issued a blue recycling container.
Additional containers may be purchased at the Township Administration
office for a fee of fourteen ($14.00) dollars each. New single homes will
receive one blue container at no charge.
The following items can be placed at the
curb every other week on your normal recycling day; aluminum cans,
bi-metal cans, clear glass, brown glass, green glass, plastic bottles
number #1 & 2, and newspaper placed along side of your blue recycling
container. All items should be rinsed, lids removed and discarded in
regular trash. Single Stream recycling is every other week as per the
recycling schedule on your normal trash day. All recycling is being done
by Aston Township Public Works Department employees. All recycling should
be placed at the curb by 6:00 a. m. the morning of your pick-up.
There are containers available to the
public twenty four (24) hours a day for your convenience behind the Aston
Township Municipal Building 5021 Pennell Road. The containers available
are for newspaper, aluminum cans, clear glass, brown glass, & green
glass, and motor oil. Please do not drop off regular trash or bulk trash
items you are subject to a citation and a fine. Please respect our rules
and regulations. Also please note there are no containers for plastic
bottles or bi-metal cans, please recycle at your curbside pick-up.
The Public Works
Department provides "leaf
collection" in the spring
as well as the fall. Please place all leaves out between the curb and
sidewalk. If you do not have a curb please place them on the grass by the
edge of the road. This allows the leaves to dry and the machines can pick
them up easier and quicker than if the leaves are placed out in the road
(paved surface)
The Public Works Department
needs to make adjustments in normal schedules for all collections. The
schedule changes due to Holidays are provided here.
