610.01        DEFINITION OF OWNER.

As used in this chapter, “owner” means any individual, firm, partnership, association, corporation, company or organization of any kind, having a right of proprietorship or ownership in a dog, keeping or harboring a dog or having in its care, or permitting a dog to remain on or about any premises occupied by such owner. 610.02        DOGS AT LARGE.

No owner of any dog licensed or unlicensed shall permit such dog to run at large unaccompanied by such owner. A dog shall be deemed to be "at large" if it is off the premises of it's owner and not under the immediate control and not on a leash or chain that is no longer that twelve (12) feet in length with a responsible person in control of the dog. 610.03        SEIZURE; RIGHT OF ENTRY.

It shall be the duty of the Township police and/or the official Animal Warden of the Township to seize and detain any dog, whether they are licensed or unlicensed, which is found running at large either upon the public streets or highways of the Township or upon the property of other than the owner of such dog. The Township police and/or the official Animal Warden are hereby authorized to go upon any premises and enter any building to seize and detain any dog which has been found running at large unaccompanied by the owner or keeper, when such Township police and/or the official Animal Warden are in the im­mediate pursuit of any such dog.  (Ord. 415. 610.04   BARKING AND HOWLING DOGS.

No owner of any dog shall permit such dog to cause annoyance to the residents of the Township or to other persons lawfully in the Township, by continually barking, yelping, howling or causing any other unseemly noise.  (Ord. 415. Passed 7-21-76.)

 

610.05   INJURY TO HUMANS.

No owner of any dog shall permit such dog to injure any human being by biting, jumping on, knocking down or attacking such human being.  (Ord. 415. Passed 7-21-76.)

 

610.06   INTERPRETATION.

This chapter shall be supplemental to any laws of the Commonwealth hereinbefore or hereafter adopted covering dogs within the Commonwealth and specifically in the Township. (Ord. 415. Passed 7-21-76.)
